Edge AI Academy Summer School 2025
The Edge AI Academy Summer School 2025 is held on 7-8 July 2025 at Scuola Universitaria Superiore Sant’Anna, Pisa, Italy. The summer school aims to empower participants with advanced knowledge, hands-on experience and an in-depth understanding of edge AI, which combines Artificial Intelligence (AI) with edge computing and the Internet of Things (IoT) to process data closer to its source. Edge AI technology is gaining prominence due to its ability to enhance real-time decision-making, reduce latency, improve data privacy, and diminish reliance on continuous internet connectivity. The topics will extend to RISC-V architectures as ultra-low-power high-performance RISC-V-based processors and ultra-low-power vector-based accelerators are advancing smart IoT and edge AI computing capabilities. The two-day innovative educational initiative is designed for students, young researchers, and professionals eager to expand their understanding and skills in these cutting-edge technologies. Participants will engage in interactive discussions, hands-on sessions, and lectures covering foundational concepts and innovative applications of edge AI across various domains with leading experts, gain insights into real-world applications, and work on team-based projects to foster collaboration and innovation.

The Scuola Universitaria Superiore Sant’Anna is a renowned university that provides exceptional education and fosters innovation. Pisa is also a distinguished academic hub. It hosts the University of Pisa, with roots dating back to the 12th century, the prestigious Scuola Normale Superiore di Pisa, established by Napoleon in 1810, and its renowned counterpart, the Sant’Anna School of Advanced Studies.

The Master graduates, PhD and post-doc applicants can send their application via the online form Application Form to be accepted to the summer school courses. Once accepted, they need to register.

Edge AI Academy Summer School 2025 Organisers
The Edge AI Academy Summer School 2025 is co-organised by the large-scale Chips JU EdgeAI project in cooperation with CLEVER, REBECCA, TRISTAN, NEUROKIT2E, SMARTY projects, and dAIEDGE and SMARTEDGE Horizon Europe (HE) projects to provide a platform to exchange knowledge and ideas among experts and professionals interested in advances in AI circuits and device design, AI hardware architectures, industrial edge AI technologies, toolchains, and applications.

EdgeAI
Edge AI Technologies for Optimised Performance Embedded Processing develops new electronic components and systems, processing architectures, connectivity, software, algorithms, and middleware through the combination of microelectronics, edge AI, embedded systems, and edge computing.

SMARTY
SMARTY – Scalable and Quantum Resilient Heterogeneous Edge Computing enabling Trustworthy, focuses on cloud-edge continuum for heterogeneous systems, that protects data-in-transit and data-in-process, employing novel accelerators for quantum resilient communications, confidential computing, and software defined perimeters.

TRISTAN
TRISTAN aims to expand, mature, and industrialize the European RISC-V ecosystem to compete with commercial options by leveraging the Open-Source community to gain productivity and quality. A European strategy for RISC-V designs will be defined, creating a repository of industrial rate building blocks for SoC designs in various application domains.

CLEVER
CLEVER (Collaborative edge-cLoud continuum and Embedded AI for a Visionary industry of thE futuRe) proposes innovations in hardware accelerators, design stack, and middleware software that revolutionize the ability of edge computing platforms to operate federated, leveraging sparse resources that are coordinated to create a powerful swarm of resources.

REBECCA
REBECCA (Reconfigurable Heterogeneous Highly Parallel Processing Platform for safe and secure AI) aims to democratize the development of edge AI systems and create a complete hardware and software stack centered around a RISC-V CPU, which offer significantly higher performance, energy efficiency, safety, and security than existing systems.

dAIEDGE
dAIEDGE is the European Network of Excellence for distributed, trustworthy, efficient, scalable AI at the Edge that promotes the development and deployment of AI on edge computing platforms. The network aims to reinforce the R&I value chains to accelerate the digital and green transitions.

NEUROKIT2E
NEUROKIT2E (Open source deep learning platform dedicated to Embedded hardware and Europe) proposes a Deep Learning Platform for Embedded HW around an established European value chain (AI HW/SW). The solutions developed support NN design, optimisation, and implementation on constrained HW.

SMARTEDGE
The SmartEdge solution includes a low-code tool programming environment with three main tools: Continuous Semantic Integration, Dynamic Swarm Network, and Low-code Toolchain for Edge Intelligence.
